We recently set up a simple Wordpress site for the Greater Des Moines YMCA — to help them raise money for scholarships to send kids in Haiti to school. With very little access to public education in Haiti, most children attend private schools. Tuition typically costs about $250 per year. That may not seem like much to us, but a typical Haitian family earns less than $650 per year. Which means most children are unable to get an education. At Bright Plane, we sincerely hope that the coalition of YMCA’s supporting Haiti will be able to make a real difference.
